“Perfectly Chocolate” Hot Cocoa

What better treat for a cold autumn day than homemade hot cocoa. Make and enjoy!

Quantity Measure Ingredient
½ cup sugar
¼ cup cocoa
dash salt
1/3 cup hot water
4 cups milk
¾ tsp. vanilla

marshmallows, if desired.


1. Set out a mug for each group member.  Add marshmallows to each cup, as desired.
2. In a large saucepan, stir together sugar, cocoa and salt.  Stir in hot water.
3. Cook on medium heat, stirring continuously until it boils.  Then boil 2 more minutes, continuing constant stirring.
4. Stir in milk and heat.  DO NOT BOIL.
5. Remove from heat; add vanilla and stir.
6. Serve using a ladle.  Enjoy!
